How much does rug and carpet cleaning cost in Ho Chi Minh City?
The price is the area multiplied by a rate for the fibre: 35,000 VND per m² for synthetic, 60,000 VND per m² for wool and 90,000 VND per m² for hand-knotted rugs, all-inclusive. The table works this out for the rug sizes common in apartments and villas. Measure the two sides and send a photo; the area is confirmed again in the quote.
The 350,000 VND minimum applies to the visit, not to each rug: all the rugs cleaned in one visit are added together before the minimum is checked. Two wool rugs of 1.6 × 2.3 m (7.36 m² together), for example, come to 441,600 VND.
| Rug size | All-inclusive price |
|---|---|
| 1.6 × 2.3 m rug (3.68 m²) | Synthetic 350,000 VND (visit minimum) · Wool 350,000 VND (visit minimum) · Hand-knotted 350,000 VND (visit minimum). |
| 2 × 3 m rug (6 m²) | Synthetic 350,000 VND (visit minimum) · Wool 360,000 VND · Hand-knotted 540,000 VND. |
| 2.5 × 3.5 m rug (8.75 m²) | Synthetic 350,000 VND (visit minimum) · Wool 525,000 VND · Hand-knotted 787,500 VND. |
| 3 × 4 m rug (12 m²) | Synthetic 420,000 VND · Wool 720,000 VND · Hand-knotted 1,080,000 VND. |
What does the price per square metre include?
The rate per m² covers the whole process in your home or office, carried out by an Up specialist, an identity-verified cleaner trained to the Up Standard. Nothing is added without your written agreement.
- Checks first
- The fibre, the weave and the condition of the backing are identified, colourfastness is tested on a hidden corner, and the rug and the position of the furniture are photographed.
- Cleaning by fibre
- Deep vacuuming, spot treatment, then spray extraction with a solution suited to the fibre. Fringes and edges are done by hand.
- Finishing
- Moisture is extracted, the pile is brushed upright and the rug is propped up to air. You check the result with the specialist in a walk-through and receive the Up Report, a photo record of the visit sent by WhatsApp or Zalo.
- If something is not right
- Reply to the Up Report within 48 hours and any item that falls short is redone free of charge. If the specialist arrives more than 15 minutes late, that visit's invoice is reduced by 10%.
- Payment
- After the walk-through, by bank transfer or cash. A VAT invoice is issued on request.
Synthetic, wool or hand-knotted: how is each type of rug cleaned?
Many rugs look alike, but wool, synthetic fibre and viscose react very differently to water and cleaning solutions. The label on the back, the backing itself and the feel of the pile are the first things the specialist checks.
| Rug type | How it is cleaned |
|---|---|
| Synthetic, 35,000 VND per m² | Polypropylene, polyester and nylon hold their colour, tolerate water well and are common in bedrooms, children's rooms and offices. The whole surface is spray-extracted, with grease marks treated first. |
| Wool, 60,000 VND per m² | Wool holds water for a long time and can shrink or bleed with a strong solution or hot water. The specialist uses a gentle solution and little water, extracts thoroughly and brushes in the direction of the pile. |
| Hand-knotted, 90,000 VND per m² | Each area of colour may have been dyed differently, which makes the colour test more important still. Fringes are cleaned by hand. A valuable rug, or one that needs a full immersion wash, is examined closely first, and you get clear advice on the suitable option. |
| Shag and long-pile rugs | The deep pile holds dust low down and takes longer to dry. Send photos so the specialist can assess the rug before we confirm. |
| Viscose and silk | Glossy fibres that are very sensitive to water: they flatten, yellow and lose their sheen easily. We confirm the job only after the specialist has seen photos and set out the risks for you to decide. |
| Seagrass, jute and sisal | Plant fibres shrink and turn brown when wet. These rugs also need photos and an assessment first. |
How is a rug cleaned at home, and how long does it take to dry?
UpClean cleans rugs and carpet where they lie, with a spray-extraction machine: the solution goes down to the base of the pile and is drawn back up with the dirt. Nothing has to be rolled up or transported, and there is no wait of several days. Loose rugs are vacuumed on both sides before cleaning.
Hosing a rug down on the balcony or in the bathroom soaks it through to the backing. In an apartment it then dries very slowly and tends to smell, and a wool rug can shrink or bleed. Extraction avoids this because the water that goes in is recovered almost at once.
A typical living-room rug takes about 45–90 minutes to clean and 4–8 hours to dry fully, longer for thick pile or a room with little air movement. While it dries:
- Open the windows, or run the aircon or a fan, with the fan blowing along the surface.
- If you must cross the rug, wear clean indoor slippers and keep to one path.
- Leave heavy furniture off. If something has to go back early, put plastic pads under the legs so that rust or wood stain does not print onto the damp pile.
- Do not put a wool or hand-knotted rug out in strong sun to dry it faster.
How much does office carpet cleaning cost, and when can it be done?
Most office carpet is synthetic, laid as carpet tiles or fitted wall to wall, so the rate of 35,000 VND per m² applies. A 50 m² office is 1,750,000 VND and a 120 m² office is 4,200,000 VND. The area is measured and confirmed first, and you receive a fixed written quote before the day.
Fitted carpet is cleaned in place and does not need lifting. Visits can be scheduled at the weekend so that the carpet is dry before the next working day, and the photo report goes to your office administrator together with the VAT invoice. Because of the heavy foot traffic, office carpet should be cleaned every 3–6 months.

What should I do about a stain before the specialist arrives?
Blot and do not rub, work from the edge towards the centre, and keep strong chemicals off wool and hand-knotted rugs. The table gives first aid for the usual stains.
| Stain | First aid |
|---|---|
| Coffee, tea, wine | Blot dry at once with a white cloth and do not rub soap into the mark. Fresh spills usually respond well. |
| Mud | Let it dry completely, then vacuum. Wiping wet mud pushes it down to the base of the pile. |
| Grease and lipstick | Lift off what sits on top, blot with dry kitchen paper and do not use hot water. |
| Candle wax and chewing gum | Harden it with an ice pack, then ease off what sits on the surface. Do not use an iron. |
| Pet accidents | Blot until dry and tell us where it is when you book, so that the specialist treats that area first. |
| Nail varnish and ink | Do not try acetone or alcohol yourself: they can damage synthetic fibres and viscose. Let the specialist test first. |
How often should a rug be cleaned, and how do I look after it in between?
A rug at home should be cleaned every 6–12 months; choose six months with young children, pets or a rug on a busy walkway. The signs that it is due: the strip along the walkway has darkened, the pile lies flat and does not lift after vacuuming, or the rug smells damp after a long run of rainy days. Between cleans:
- Vacuum once or twice a week, and switch off the rotating brush on wool and hand-knotted rugs.
- Put a doormat at the front door and at the balcony door to keep grit outside.
- Use a non-slip underlay beneath a loose rug, so that it shifts less and the backing rubs less on the floor.
- Trim a loose thread on a hand-knotted rug level with scissors. Pulling it can undo a whole row of knots.
- Turn the rug 180 degrees each season so that sun and footsteps are spread evenly.
- For storage, roll the rug in the direction of the pile and wrap it in breathable cloth, not a sealed plastic bag.
