When is Tết 2027, and when should I book the cleaning?
Tết, the Lunar New Year, begins on Saturday, 6 February 2027; New Year's Eve is the evening of Friday, 5 February. Cleaning the whole house beforehand is a long-standing habit in many Vietnamese families: a clean, tidy home to see out the old year and welcome the new one.
Book in December 2026 or early January 2027. Demand rises in the last weeks of the lunar year while the cleaning teams have only so many hours, and booking early matters most if you want several items done or a weekend date.
UpClean's Tết cleaning puts a deep clean of the home and the aircon, sofa, curtain, mattress or rug cleaning you choose into one plan and one written quote. The work is done by Up specialists, our identity-verified and trained staff, and you receive their names and photos before the visit.
In what order should a home be cleaned before Tết?
Work from the jobs that create dust and water to the finishing jobs, so that nothing already cleaned is dirtied again. A home with many items may be split into two visits in that order, and the expected duration is stated in the quote.
If time is short, put first the areas that matter most for daily life and for receiving guests: living room, kitchen, bathrooms, window glass and aircon. Curtain and sofa cleaning can be booked for the same visit.
| When | What to do |
|---|---|
| About 3–4 weeks before Tết | Aircon cleaning, and curtain, sofa, mattress and rug cleaning. Curtains and sofas need time to dry, and clean aircon units are ready for the days when the home is full. |
| About 2 weeks before Tết | Clear out cupboards, sort what is no longer used, tidy the storeroom and balcony. The household decides what stays and what goes; the specialist wipes down once the sorting is done. |
| The last week before New Year's Eve | Deep clean of the whole home: floors, interior glass, kitchen, bathrooms and furniture. Done last, so that the home still looks clean when Tết arrives. |
How much does Tết cleaning cost?
The cost is the sum of the listed prices of the items you choose. UpClean has no separate Tết price and no price increase before the holiday. The examples below are illustrations only; they apply each item's minimum charge and the aircon discount of 10% from the 3rd unit in the same visit, as in the price list. The official all-inclusive quote is sent in writing once you confirm the floor area and the list of items, and nothing is added without your agreement.

Room-by-room checklist for a pre-Tết deep clean
The specialists bring the tools, machines and cleaning products, chosen for each surface; you only need to make sure electricity and water are available. Glass is cleaned indoors and within safe reach. The outside of the glass on a high-rise building needs a contractor that specialises in work at height.
| Area | What is cleaned |
|---|---|
| Living room | Sofa, curtains, aircon, TV unit, decorative lights, glass doors, floor and skirting. |
| Altar area | Walls, floor and shelves around the family altar. The altar and the items on it are cleaned only with your consent and in the way you direct. |
| Kitchen | Hob, outside of the cabinets, range hood, fridge, microwave, sink and wall tiles. |
| Bedrooms | Mattress, duvets and pillows, aircon, outside of the wardrobes, under the beds, curtains. |
| Bathrooms | Limescale on glass screens, shower fittings, toilet, basin, tile grout and extractor fan. |
| Balcony and loggia | Floor, the inner side of the railing, sliding doors and the safety mesh on the inside, within reach. |
What do people forget to clean before Tết?
Most households concentrate on what is in plain sight: floors, glass and the kitchen. The hidden places collect dust and micro-organisms all year, and they decide how fresh the home feels once the doors are shut and the aircon is on with a full house.
- The aircon indoor unit and its filters: dust built up over time makes the unit cool poorly and the air smell. Cleaning it before Tết makes the days of family gatherings more comfortable.
- Curtains: they absorb dust and cooking smells, yet are usually washed only once or twice a year.
- Sofas and mattresses: where guests sit and children play. Stains and fine dust lie deep in the fabric and the padding.
- The range hood, the tops of the kitchen cabinets and the gap between the fridge and the wall, where grease and dust settle in a thick layer.
- Balcony sliding-door tracks, bathroom grout, the bathroom extractor fan, switches and door handles.
How should I prepare before the specialists arrive?
You do not need to move large furniture. The specialists photograph where things stand, move items only within the agreed scope and put them back afterwards.
- Put jewellery, documents, cash and valuables away in a separate place.
- Sort beforehand what you want to discard and what you want to keep. The specialists never throw anything away on their own initiative.
- Register with the building management as required. Many buildings ask for the names of outside staff and the working hours; we send the specialists' names and photos so that you can do this.
- Tell us about areas and objects that need particular care: the altar, paintings, ceramics, plants, electronics.
- Make sure water and electricity are available throughout, and tell us where to park or how to bring equipment in.
- If mattress cleaning is booked, have clean sheets and pillowcases ready for when the mattress is dry.
- Agree with the household which rooms are done first and which stay in use. Keep children and pets in a separate room while machines and cleaning products are in use.
- Finish any painting, repairs, new curtains or furniture installation before the deep clean, so that dust does not return.
One clean before Tết, or regular cleaning afterwards?
The pre-Tết deep clean brings the whole home back to a clean state. After a holiday full of guests, many households want one more visit to put the house in order before work starts again. You can reserve that visit when you book the Tết clean; the exact date is confirmed against the post-Tết schedule.
For a home kept tidy all year, consider Up Home, our regular hourly house cleaning. The specialist comes to know the home and the household's routine, and the big cleans such as the one before Tết become much lighter and quicker.
- Up Home
- Regular house cleaning by the hour.
Do you work during the Tết holiday, and can I change my booking?
UpClean's normal hours are 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM, seven days a week. The schedule for the Tết public holiday itself is announced separately, so contact us to confirm in advance if you need a clean after the holiday or after a year-end party.
Changing or cancelling a booking is free with at least 24 hours' notice; a cancellation inside 24 hours carries a fee of 30%. Payment is made after the walk-through, by bank transfer or cash. If an item falls short, reply to the Up Report, the photo record sent after the visit, and it is redone free of charge within 48 hours; aircon cleaning carries a 90-day warranty under our policy.
Up specialists work regularly in An Khanh ward (Sala, Thu Thiem, Thao Dien), Binh Trung, Phu My Hung (Tan My and Tan Hung wards), Thanh My Tay, Cat Lai, the former Districts 1, 3 and 4, the former Phu Nhuan and Nha Be commune. Bookings are also accepted in Districts 5, 6, 8, 10, 11 and 12, Go Vap, Tan Binh, Tan Phu and the former District 9, with the time slot confirmed when you book, above all in the busy weeks before Tết. The city replaced its districts with wards on 1 July 2025, but most people still use the district names.
